Meet
Heidi
- "of noble birth" – a very
fitting name for a small package of great
expectations. Heidi’s sire and dam is none
other than the 2 time National Racing
Champion, Jacks B Quick Leggs of Ironwater
and Ironwater Nellie.
Catawba Mountain made its
first trip in over 5 years to the great
State of Florida the weekend of November 30
to attend the Yuletide Terrier Trial in
Zephyrhills. On Sunday afternoon we were
engaged in a conversation with the person
who was beside us at ringside regarding a
recent litter her parents had for sale. She
mentioned the litter had been sired by
Leggs, 2004 JRTCA US National Over
Racing Champion and 2005 JRTCA US National
Reserve Over Racing Champion.
Since Catawba Mountain had been discussing
“resurrecting our racing line” we
immediately took note of this information.
We were also told that the owners of this
litter were being very selective in who got
these puppies, since this was the last time
the dam would be bred.
To make a long story short,
we were “approved” to have one of these
wonderful pups and Heidi came home with us
to Virginia. Heidi slept her first night
with us in the motel room on the way home,
curled up against the pillow next to her new
daddy.
An interesting note - upon
close examination of Heidi’s pedigree, it
was learned that her pedigree goes back to
some of the Catawba Mountain original
bloodlines. We are very excited to be able
to introduce this little gal as perhaps the
foundation bitch of the next Catawba
Mountain racing line.
We would like to thank the
Baylor’s for entrusting us with one of their
racing babies. We feel very flattered that
they allowed us to own one of their line.
Update: We
measured Heidi on 1-20-08 at 3.5 months old
and she is already 11.25" so she is
definitely going to have her dad's height.
She is also death on anything moving which
makes dusting fun! She LOVES the dusting
wand.
